PERFORMANCE AUTOMATION formed a strong partnership with Tichawa Vision (www.tichawa.com), in 2010 to exclusively represent Tichawa Vision products in the United States, Canada and Mexico. In addition, Tichawa Vision has established PERFORMANCE AUTOMATION as their US-based repair and assembly operation. Founded in 1991, Tichawa Vision GmbH is based in Friedberg near Augsburg, Germany and focuses on the development of innovative camera technologies for the use in industrial image processing. Tichawa Vision is a leading player in the field of Contact Image Sensors (CIS). CIS technology provides a good alternative to line-scan cameras, particularly in applications where flat materials need to be inspected and where the available space does not allow the use of other technologies.
Tichawa Line Scan Cameras
Tichawa MidiCIS line scan cameras provide an economical option to conventional line-scan cameras, allowing high image data rates and offering high light sensitivity. Tichawa can also offer an economical solution where multiple line scan cameras have traditionally been used. These cameras incorporate a linear scanning line, SELFOC lens array for imaging and a light source in one compact package. Because the rod lenses neither magnify nor reduce the image, a 1:1 image of the object is created without the distortion commonly found when using conventional lenses. Tichawa MidiCIS line scan cameras use a technology similar to what is found in scanners and photocopiers.
Tichawa line scan camera uses base Camera Link interface, and is framegrabber independent. Tichawa line scan cameras are supported by all major framegrabber manufacturers; Cognex, National Instruments, Dalsa, Matrox and others.
Tichawa Midi-CIS model
The Tichawa’s Midi-CIS model is compact and provides scan widths of up to 520mm. Resolutions are available from 200 to 3600 dpi, with line rates up to 40kHz. The Midi-CIS offers integrated imaging optics and LED lighting. LED lighting is available in both monochrome and RGB versions; also IR/UV LED is available. Dual head, quad head and custom versions are available if required.
CIS technology is especially suited for web inspection applications and applications with limited overhead space. Most models in the Tichawa range can be joined end to end to achieve an inspection solution of any desired length.

Tichawa Maxi-CIS - Contact Image Sensors for wide web applications
For challenging applications which places high demands on size and resolution that cannot be met by a Tichawa Midi-CIS, the Maxi-CIS is available. This solution is ideally suited for wide web and wide field of view applications.
The product range includes both cost efficient monochrome and RGB models, with a wide range of high resolutions.

Tichawa Tube-CIS - Compact CIS for tube inspection
The Tube-CIS line scan camera model provides unique functionality that would be difficult to achieve using traditional camera and optics techniques. A compact CIS with integrated optics and light source offers identical image quality for both inner and outer surfaces with resolutions from 200 to 600 dpi and line rates up to 10kHz allowing for scan speeds up to 1.27 m/sec.
Applications include all inspections where inaccessible internal surfaces need to be accurately inspected for damage or manufacturing errors.
